As the Chartered Institute of Building Engineers (CABE) recently concluded its Annual General Meeting on February 17, 2024, the announcement of new board members sparked excitement and anticipation within the industry. Among the individuals stepping into leadership roles, Gary Cass, CEO of Hertfordshire Building Control, Build Insight, and BCC Ltd, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, together with Paul Grinyer C.Build E FCABE as Vice-President and Christine Leigh C.Build E FCABE.

CABE’s Board plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the association, ensuring its members are represented effectively, and advancing the standards of excellence within the built environment.

With a career spanning technical and strategic leadership roles in both public and private sectors, Gary has demonstrated a profound understanding of the complexities and challenges inherent in building engineering. His academic pursuits, including ongoing doctoral studies and a Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge, underscore his dedication to continuous learning and innovation.

Before joining the CABE Board, Gary’s contributions to the field have been extensive. As a policy board member for the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and a participant in review groups for organizations like the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the National House Building Council (NHBC), Gary has actively championed initiatives aimed at enhancing safety and sustainability in construction practices. His involvement in the MPSC further attests to his commitment to advancing the welfare of individuals within the built environment.
