The Forum at The University of Hertfordshire
The Forum opened in 2009 as the main social facility for the University. The ground floor has a restaurant, a convenience store, coffee bar, foyer and retail units, while the upper floors consist of a 2000-person capacity entertainment venue with the ability to subdivide into three rooms hosting simultaneous events.
We have been leading the compliance process on the internal alterations to the Forum building to convert one of the existing nightclub spaces into a dedicated flagship lecture theatre with collaborative breakout areas, together with a newly constructed entrance. The first floor will offer a new informal bar, while the top floor will be home to a new nightclub.
The Forum’s reconfiguration is part of the university’s 2030 Estates Vision to deliver ‘more flexible, innovative teaching and learning environments, and in the process modernise the University’s Student Union area to improve the student experience and provide a simpler supervisory regime for security staffing the night-time events.
