Getting on the property ladder

The project Wedgewood Way brings more than 240 affordable homes to Stevenage! It will help hundreds of local families to get onto the housing ladder. It is being developed on the site of the former DuPont factory and is due to be completed by February 2020. It consists of 208 homes for shared ownership, 40 rented homes and 6 homes for private sale.

Representing a large investment in affordable housing the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) is helping to fund this project by investing around £6 million.

HBC were delighted to deliver a Building Control service for this project that represents such an important contribution to the local community. We allocated one of our experienced and qualified Senior Surveyors, Michael Joseph BSc MRICS FRACS MIFPO to work with the design team. He is being ably assisted by Graduate Surveyor Martin Elliott. A1 Team Head of Building Control David Eggleton routinely visited the site. He was pleased to receive confirmation that there is an excellent working relationship between site staff and our Surveyor team.

HBC has been able to coordinate a highly responsive service carrying out site inspections of work in progress at the agreed stages for notification. Chase New Homes can expect to receive a same day inspection when we are notified by 10:00 am. We can also carry out multiple same day inspections to assist the progress of the work at Wedgewood Way. In the 6 months from the commencement of works in June 2017 our A1 team of Surveyors have carried out in excess of 60 site inspections. They have been busy checking the pile and beam foundations, drainage and other elements. We have been pleased to note that Chase New Homes have a very competent site management team. Standards of workmanship are to a high standard.
